Harold T. Hellegaard - Conductor and Director of the Nashville Community Concert Band:
"Ted" Hellegaard has a long distinguished career in music. Before moving to Tennessee in 1972, he performed as principal trumpet with the State Symphony of New Jersey, the Jersey City Symphony and many other groups. He received his Bachelor of Science in Music Performance from Tennessee State University and did graduate work at Middle Tennessee State University while a member of the faculty brass quintet. Mr. Hellegaard has been the Director of Music / Principal Conductor of the NCCB since 1978 and is currently the founder and a member of the Graylyn Brass Quintet. The father of three adult daughters, he resided in Donelson with his wife, Joan, until her recent death from a battle with lung cancer. Joan was principal oboist with the NCCB.
